Default GCSL - Go Center Land Development

(The prefix of "GCSL" is being used to denote discussions specific to the Go Center of Second Life)

Now that we've got multiple members owning the land parcels for the Go Center, I'd like to have some discussions around how we want to develop the land. Although each land owner will have their own things they want to do with their parcel, we will also want to coordinate to make the best overall environment.

I hope other members besides the land owners will participate in this thread, to contribute their ideas or skills.

Default Basic Development

I'll start off with a couple of topics:

1) Do land owners want to set aside part of their parcels (particularly the parts closest to the Go playing area) as a sort of walking path or tranquility garden? If so, any ideas on how it should look?

2) Does anyone object to the building of platforms at altitude, to build things that aren't appropriate for the Go Center at ground level? Say, above 300 meters?

Default Planning a school and a small market.

Hello,
First - let me say that I am new here. I have been reading this forum for a while, but this is my first post.

I am a great supporter of Second Life Go Center, and I intend to purchase two shares. One of them will contain a Go school, which I will use to teach Go and which will be available for use for other teachers. The other share I plan to convert into a small themed commercial area, with kiosk selling some oriental-themed stuff. I already talked to some vendors, so things look up.

The shares I will be purchasing will be, hopefully, shares #1 and #2. Share #1 will be the school, share #2 will be the market place.

The only thing I still have to work out is how to make the school private.

When I parceled the land, I purposely left the "infrastructure" up to the shareholders. But walkways, paths, greenery, etc. would all be wonderful.

I saw the development you've started on your land, Tenuki. Looks really nice. Do you have a master plan for it? And, if so, have you allocated all of the space?

I guess if we're going to do some communally-coordinated development, we'll need at least the cooperation of whoever ends up with the parcel that lies right between yours and mine. But if we're each going to leave some "green space" on our parcels, it might make a better overall environment to have them kind of run together into a park sort of effect.

I had sort of intended the corner of my lot closest to the pavillion to be kind of like this. A small teahouse, with a sort of tranquility garden surrounding it. I was going to keep my residence and other projects down by the beach (or at altitude).

I do not have any master plan in terms of infrastructure, just goals. Catch me in-world and we'll talk if you have some good ideas.

Unfortunately this probably won't happen for a while - I'm on the new-baby schedule (which is to say, no schedule at all). Besides, I'm new to the building thing and was hoping more to solicit ideas here in the forum. I guess we can build as we see fit, and change things later.
