Default Pocketpc or I-Touch for mobile IGS?

So I have been thinking of how to go mobile with igs. I have found that pocketpc or i-touch can both do it. I can get an HP Ipaq 111 for $299 and I-touches run about the same....which would be better?

Once you see SmartGo on the iPod touch you'd regret it if you went with the PocketPC. :-)

Does this imply that the iPhone/iTouch version of SmartGo will also have IGS client functionality (which is what the OP was asking about)?

(I ask this because you never mentioned this feature on the thread announcing it, which strikes me as strange since if it were a feature, it would be perhaps one of the most important ones there, and if it's not, it's not really relevant to the OP)

In principle, however, I agree -- I would definitely go with the iPhone/iTouch if I were you, Jordus. The developer ecosystem that Apple is fostering around it will be very enduring and fruitful.

No, you are correct There is a working IGS client for the iPhone, called Tetsuki; I was just asking Anders if his product (SmartGo for iPhone) would also be including this functionality.

I would also like to know. I went to the smart go website and it does claim to be an IGS client but I didn't see anything about it working on an ITouch.

That's because the iPhone version of SmartGo has not been released yet; it isn't mentioned anywhere on the SmartGo website. You can read about it here (you can be sure the information is authentic -- the poster, Anders Kierulf, is the author of SmartGo)

Default I Got The Touch

I ordered the iPod Touch yesterday, and can hardly wait for it to arrive.

I ordered the 16GB model and got the Apple Care Protection Plan. I like to have someone to call about problems if necessary, although it rarely is necessary.

It was a hard decision choosing between the iPod Touch and the iPhone, but I decided to keep Verizon as my phone company for the time being. If I decide to switch later I am sure I can find someone who would want to inherit my iPod Touch.

I had a year left on my T-mobile contract, but they were obligated to let me out of it early with no penalty due to them raising the text message rates, which counted as a violation of the agreement I had signed.

The current agreements of course, are written so that they can hike that as much as they like, and it's not against the agreement.

So I went over to AT&T and the iPhone. I'm looking forward to helping beta test Tetsuki. And of course, I'm also excited about SmartGo.

As far as iPhone go apps... I'd say that the one which has figured out the best interface is "Stones" from the app store. (Basically you drag and drop stones, which is perfect because you can see where you're dropping them.) I'd like to see this one replicated in the other iphone go apps...
