I believe strong players have commented that lines of attack shown as “the correct solution” should be taken as a suggested solution – that very strong players may in fact differ in the best way to proceed. Even at 1d, I had absolutely no clue where the correct answer could be for most problems. That must mean that it contains what is a big gap in my understanding. Looking at the solutions has given me a different outlook on the game. From observation of 4d games, they don’t systematically follow the ideas explained in the solutions, e.g., I rarely see such players securing a corner after playing a couple of attacking moves, so this book definitely contains a lot of information helpful to dan players. ![]() I have read it three times, and consider it excelent. You may have trouble finding the right answers, but at least you get some satisfactio for getting the right areas. Lots of good explanations, and it has definitely improved my game.
