Improve Your Intuition, Volume 1: Intuition in the Opening, Takagawa Kaku

This volume of about 40 pages is based on a series of articles from Go Review, the English language Go journal published in Japan from 1961 to 1977. In a lucid and precise way Takagawa lays out the basic principles of correct play that, if followed, will provide the foundation for developing good intuition in common situations on the board. Volume 1 deals with the opening, discussing such topics as how far to extend, when to invade and when to defend, the difference between plays on the third and on the fourth lines, etc.
