Keshi and Uchikomi: A Study of Reduction and Invasion in Go, Kaoru IwamotoKeshi and Uchikomi: A Study of Reduction and Invasion in Go is based on a text by Iwamoto Kaoru 9-Dan that was serialized in the American Go Journal. The book also contains the final sections of his study of invasion, which were not published in the journal. Iwamoto focuses primarily on reducing and invading formations based on a corner enclosure from the 3-4 point and gives clear and thorough advice for handling patterns that frequently arise in actual games. This book is published by Slate & Shell for the American Go Association. Comments & ReviewsTepid... Utter waste of time. - Written by jaimekaszynski
![]() Buy “Reducing Territorial Frameworks” for a much more coherent overview of the subjects presented here. This book is low on concept and high on esoteric, specific examples, many of which I’ve never encountered. “Enclosure Josekis” is also brilliant, though very hard to find, but I think that combining “Reducing Territorial Frameworks” with “Attack and Defense” will leave you with a much clearer understanding of reduction and invasion. Invasion and reduction techniques - Written by Limon
![]() This book is not about memorizing a pattern. It is about learning how to invade and reduce in your games. The methods of probing and exploiting weaknesses is the same. Don’t memorize the book solutions, instead learn the techniques and you will be invadeing or reducing patterns you never saw before that game. Positions are infrequently encountered - Written by ChiyoDad
![]() This is a good book to study invasions and reductions but it’s not as useful as the out-of-print book by Takemiya, The Enclosure Josekis. Iwamoto deals with more complicated positions which are less likely to be encountered in one’s games. Sadly, only one of the positions in Takemiya’s book is duplicated.
