Reducing Territorial Frameworks, Shuko FujisawaWith the publication of this book, the Ishi Press comes one step closer to achieving its goal of providing a complete coverage of the various fighting techniques of go. Reducing Territorial Frameworks is intended to complement the coverage of invasion techniques presented in Enclosure Josekis. The two books are closely related because in the fighting of the early middle game a player has to make a direct choice between the two techniques of invading and reducing. His choice, of course, profoundly influences the subsequent course of the game. Comments & ReviewsEssential - Written by yoyoma
![]() Too many players are afraid of moyos. This book goes a long way to helping you deal with your fears. Either way, its very difficult - Written by kiseki
![]() I kept telling myself when I got better, I would come back to this book, but now as a 5k, its still too difficult. I CAN get through it, but not at all efficiently. There are many concepts which help, but the details are beyond me. It doesn’t help that it is a bit dry. NOT a joseki book. - Written by jaimekaszynski
![]() Ok, Ok, the book has a large reference section with lots of reducing moves and standard ideas for follow ups, but it also has a section on theory of reduction which I found extreemly useful in moving from 8k to 5k. This is a great book for anyone who gets lost in the mid game, or anyone who either fears or relies upon moyos. A Joseki Book - Written by malweth
![]() There’s no hiding the fact that this is a Joseki dictionary! It’s fairly dry, and hard to just read through. I’m currently reading the book, and finding it slow going. This doesn’t mean it’s a bad book! A lot of the positions given help explain how Pros play a forcing move, and then switch to another part of the board. As an example, one position shows a keima reducing move played by white. A few black responses are given, but one explains that W can switch to the 3×3 invasion after forcing B, and gives the possible follow-ups. Overall this is a more immediately useful book than Ishida’s Joseki Dictionary, but I think it will be most useful read through (not referenced) for new ideas. It’s too bad the reading is so dry.
