Get Strong at Joseki 2, Get Strong at Go Series, Vol.3, Richard Bozulich and Furuyama KazunariMost books on joseki list endless variations, leaving it up to the readers to fend for themselves in applying these josekis to their games. This joseki book is unique; not only does it show you the most important 5-3 point (mokuhazushi) and 5-4 point (takamoku) josekis that are likely to arise in your games, it also shows you how to apply them in actual situations, which joseki to select, and how to continue the joseki in the middle game. It also contains many new josekis that have appeared in professional games over the last 15 years, making it the most up-to-date joseki book available. Comments & Reviewsexamples? - Written by lepore
Hi BramGo – wow you really didn’t like this book. could you please provide some examples of this faulty work. Specifically, one or two examples of well known joseki marked as "wrong" would be useful. It just doesn't work - Written by BramGo
![]() 1) It’s not really a thick book. But on top of that it’s a lot of paper for a very small amount of sequences. That is because sequences that could be presented in 1 diagram are split up in about 3 to 5 problems. 2) On top of that some of the selected sequences are doubtable. Sometimes even in local situations the “correct answers” is not really the main joseki but a rather rare seen-occasionally-in-pro-game variation. In short: I really dislike the choice of content. 3) Sometimes well known joseki are marked as “wrong” even when there is no wholeboard-situation presented. 4) I doubt if solving problems is really the way to study joseki. When I read this book at the same time I was reading the Joseki dictionaries of Yoshio Ishida. And I can honestly say that what I have learned from Get Strong At Joseki 2 was less than what I had learned from Yoshio Ishida after the first 5 minutes. Yoshio Ishida explains more variations, in less diagrams and with better explanations and is generally recognized as THE joseki dictionary collection. So to be honest I regret buying this book, and I can not recommond it, simply because there are better books.
