A Journey In Search of The Origins of Go, Shirakawa MasayoshiNew release. No description yet. Comments & ReviewsWandering through the History of Go - Written by RedBeard
![]() This book is an interesting look at the history of Go, but it has some serious editing problems. I’m not sure if it is due to the translation or that the original material was written to be published as a series of articles, but there is little to no flow of the narrative. What we are given is a somewhat meandering account of the authors trips to China as he represented Japan in a series of cultural exchange trips, interspersed with musings about the history of Go and how Go relates to Asian culture. Many of the concepts from the book, such as Go being connected to the I Ching and The Ho Tu or Yellow River map, are repeated through several chapters making much of the text seem redundant. The book does not include any discussion of game strategy or lessons, but for those interested in ancient history and Go it is worth the effort to read.
