1-inch Reversible Hiba Board (9x9/13x13) #NK3B, SamarkandThe dimensions of the 1" reversible Hiba board are approximately 13 1/8" by 14 3/8", 1" thick. The grids are the standard Go grid size, that is, the same as on the standard 19×19 lined board - the squares of the grid are roughly 7/8" by 15/16", sized for standard Go stone diameters of 20-22mm. They are originally based on Asian measurements which don’t translate exactly to inches, hence the approximations. Comments & ReviewsSolid small board - Written by codyk
![]() I wanted a smaller tactical board for lunchtime games, and didn’t want a thin piece of junk. This board fits the bill, even though it is nowhere near as nice as the 1” hiba 19×19 I also got from Samarkand. At a little less than 2x price difference, this is probably down to japanese vs. korean construction. It seems to have a yellow wash of some kind applied to it. Although not as bad as a lacquered board, the wash does obscure the grain a bit compared to the natural hiba boards. Also note that the pictures on samarkand’s site seem to show felt risers applied to one side of the board; these are thankfully not included with the board I got. Overall, seems to be the best deal on a smaller board available in the us.
