200 Endgame Problems: Winning TacticsA translation of one of the Nihon Kiin's pocket book series, this book contains a systematic presentation of endgame tesuji. It is aimed especially at middle-level players and will provide a good review for stronger players. Sample Pages Available. Comments & Reviewspractical examples, focus on tesuji - Written by snorri on 2007-08-09 16:14:50
![]() First of all, this is mostly an endgame tesuji book. There's almost nothing about counting or calculating the exact sizes of moves, and what is included is approximate. I would therefore consider Ogata and Davies' "The Endgame" and a review of the Sensei's Library "miai values list" to be prerequisites. Its strong point is that many of the shapes shown are realistic; similar or even identical positions might appear in amateur games. Good way to learn endgame tesuji - Written by gowan on 2006-12-04 16:25:30
![]() It seems like the endgame is the most under-studied part of the game. If your endgame is strong, though, you'll win a lot more often. This book gives good practice in endgame tesuji. Good for single digit kyu and stronger. Thorough workout - Written by Javaness on 2006-09-01 04:58:48
![]() I'm not normally a fan of problem books, but I rather enjoyed this one. Each problem has a well writen introduction, and I always found the explanations to be both succint and adequate. I am about 2kyu and was able to get about 90% of the problems right, so I would imagine it wouldn't be so useful to anyone above me level. - Written by DrStraw on 2006-05-17 16:04:16
