Kato's Attack and Kill, Kato MasaoAttacking enemy stones is one of the most basic elements in any game of Go, yet surprisingly little has been written about the theory of attacking. Methods of attack, selection of target, timing, contriving a double attack – these are techniques which require a lot of trial and error to master. Comments & ReviewsYou won't be afraid to attack any more! - Written by jaimekaszynski
![]() The first time I read through this book, I had suffered a series of losses brought about by attacking groups and failing to kill them. I had become disheartened, and my playing style had shifted to a much laxer approach; staking out my territory early, and not putting too much pressure on my opponants. Kato’s Attack and Kill revived my killer instinct, by clearly elucidating tactics, and giving me a hero to look up too. An example are the two basic rules to distinguish capping vs keima attacks… Capping plays block access to the center, or limit an opponant’s territory, whereas Keima attacks should drive an opponant towards thickness, expand your own moyo or both. I recommend this book for 7k aga up!
