Each section begins with a few pages of diagrams explaining some basic concepts which are somewhat related to the problems in the section. The problems themselves are shown one per page, with the solutions on the back of the page. All of the problems are black to play. Sometimes more specific instructions are given under the problem, but the goal is usually easy to figure out even if you can’t read the instructions. The solutions consist of two diagrams.  This book is very similar to Hitome No Tesuji, except as one might expect from the title, it focuses exclusively on life and death. To give you an idea of its difficulty, the problems seem to get progressively harder within each section, and the problem on the cover is the 8th problem in the first section.
