I got this in a batch of other books to give away as tournament prizes, and I had the chance to look it over. There are 57 problems, “recommended for beginners and players up to about 7 or 8 kyu.” Dan players probably solve them in a glance. At my level (AGA 5k), I needed to read only a few of them, but I flubbed a couple in the “endgame” category (not my strong point). All the problems are “Black to play.” Two to four problems are on the right page. Turn the page to see the answers. This format is great for casual study in spare interludes—fitting for its highly portable size. I really like this book, and it’s cheap enough that I’ll probably buy several to give away.
