GoGoD Database & Encyclopaedia, John Fairbairn, T. Mark HallFrom www.gogod.co.uk: Games of Go on Disk is an informal partnership between T. Mark Hall and John Fairbairn in London. With more than occasional help from many go friends, they produce a very large database of professional go games supported by an extensive fund of programs, data and articles to help existing players enjoy and benefit from these games. The whole package is available on a modestly priced single compact disk. New editions come out twice a year: summer (for European and US Congresses) and winter (for Christmas and London Open). What a marvel! 50,000 pro games, plus a whole bunch of other interesting stuff – history of the game, problems, info about players and much more. For the games alone, it’s worth getting this – you can find games by your favorite player, or, if you have books or Go World mags that cover certain games, you’ll likely find them all here. I haven’t had time to delve much into the textual part of the set, but there is lots of interesting stuff: both articles and teaching material. In short, you can’t go wrong with this. Add the Go World on DVD, and you’ll have enough go material to keep you busy for years. Wonderful! - Written by snorri
