A Way of Play for the 21st Century, Go Seigen

Go Seigen is one of the foremost Go players of the 20th century; many regard him as the greatest. A Way of Play for the 21st Century is a compilation of lectures on the opening that Go Seigen gave from October 1996 through March 1997 on IGO KOZA, a Go program broadcast in Japan every Sunday by NHK, Japan’s public television.

A Way of Play for the 21st Century prescribes that each stone played should preserve balance, and harmonize the entire position on the board; each stone must be in harmony with all directions -  north, south, east, west, heaven and earth – and be exactly suited for the requirements of the situation.

This is an excellent review of modern thoughts in fuseki. It really gave me some new ideas to think about – first time that has happened in many years when I read a go book. Although low- to mid-kyu players can probably gain some benefit from reading it I would think that is it best read by high-kyu and dan players. The ideas given are non-trivial and presuppose an understanding of the basic ideas of fuseki in the first place. However, if you are a high kyu or above and want to improve I think it will be hard to find a better book.

I would add that the "similar products" listed for this book are in no way similar. They bear the same relation to this book as Dr. Seuss does to Dostoevsky.
