I learnt to play Go whilst in my second year at Durham University in Northern England. Despite quite an interest in the game, and meeting some characters like Alan Scarrf (Author of MicroGo, one of the first decent programs) I took the decision to quit, partly because of lack of players and partly due to study pressures. When I moved to Cambridge I found it had the biggest Go Club in the UK and started playing in earnest. People like Charles Matthews really helped me understand the tactics of the game, and having joined at 23k I left at 6k. Now in Belfast I have started a club in Work (which has moved out into the city as well) with a friend and we've taught around 20 people how to play, solid attendance is still around 4 or 5 though. I've kind of run out of ambitions really with regard to Go.
I have seen inside Jeandoute's fridge, won the 2007 Irish Championship, played in KMPC in 2006.
