Go Background
I played my first game of Go in March 2006 after I had seen references to the game in various books and articles I had been reading. My curiosity was piqued and I began looking for good resources to learn more about the game. I went through The Interactive Way to Go and then started looking for a forum to get advice on the next steps to take. There didn't appear to be anything besides rec.games.go, which didn't suit me because I prefer web-based forums. So, I did what any self-respecting webmaster would do and created this site.

I'm still a 20+ kyu on KGS, and I blame this site for it :). A man can only devote so much time to Go, and my quota has been spent trying to make this site as good as possible. My goal is to fit in at least one game per day.

Study
My game would probably improve faster if I spent my study time playing games rather than reading, but it's not always possible to play a full game! I like books because I can bring them with me and study anywhere.

Personal Life
The biggest thing going on right now is that I'm getting married on June 17th, 2006. I've got a cheesy wedding website up here. We'll be spending our honeymoon in Cozumel drinking margaritas and scuba diving. I can't wait!

I live in Northern Virginia, about 15 minutes south of Washington DC.

My days are spent running a small business specializing in internet publishing.

I graduated with a degree in electrical engineering and worked at the US Patent Office for a couple years. After two years of what I like to call "The Grind" I set out on my own.

But we've been able to ban the users / delete the posts within a very short amount of time. So if you're a spammer save both of us some time and find a different forum with less moderation. Your posts won't stay up anyways.

Chiyodad and Malweth were the first members to add bios and they both look great. I've just added a "bio link" to member posts on the forum. The link is in the area just below the avatar space. I'm hoping that these links will encourage more people to create their own bios :).

Thanks to the generosity of Chiyodad, I'll soon be the proud owner of Tesuji and Life & Death from the Elementary Go Series by James Davies. Everybody seems to love these books so I can't wait to read them.
